Youth Coding Camp Instructor

Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Coding Camp Instructor to join our team for an upcoming coding camp for school-aged youth. As an instructor, you will play a pivotal role in creating a fun and engaging learning environment while teaching coding, improving logical thinking skills, and fostering creativity and design skills in our camp participants. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality coding lessons and activities for school-aged youth.  
  • Design and facilitate hands-on coding projects, problem-solving challenges, and collaborative coding sessions to enhance participants’ skills and knowledge. 
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. 
  • Guide and mentor participants in exploring robotics, app development, web design, and game development. 
  • Assess and provide constructive feedback on participants’ progress and projects. 
  • Organize and facilitate coding games, competitions, and showcases to motivate and recognize participants’ achievements. 
  • Stay updated with the latest coding trends, teaching methodologies, and educational resources to enhance the learning experience. 
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants throughout the camp. 
  • Qualifications: 
  • Working knowledge of Computer Science and Programming concepts (Variables, Loops, Conditional Statements, Functions, Object Oriented Design, Debugging) 
  • Working towards bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Strong expertise in coding and programming languages 
  • Prior knowledge of Scratch – MIT High Level programming language 
  • Experience working with school-aged youth in an educational or instructional capacity. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with participants and create an inclusive learning environment. 
  • Passion for teaching, inspiring, and empowering young learners to explore the world of coding and technology. 
  • Creativity and ability to design innovative and interactive coding lessons and activities. 
  • Patience, adaptability, and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. 
  • Prior experience in instructing coding camps, workshops, or educational programs is a plus.
