A Light in the Darkness: Candlelight Vigil for Nepal Flash Flood Victims

A Light in the Darkness: Candlelight Vigil for Nepal Flash Flood Victims
Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastating flash floods tearing through northern Nepal—sweeping away entire villages, bridges, and homes across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and neighboring Himalayan valleys. In a matter of moments, hundreds of innocent lives were cut short, thousands remain missing, and tens of thousands of families are left displaced without shelter, clean water, or warmth.
Though oceans separate us from our homeland, our shared grief, prayers, and resolve transcend distance. In this hour of profound loss, we invite all community members, friends, and allies across Minnesota to come together, light a candle of remembrance, and stand in solidarity with those fighting to rebuild their lives.
- Attire / What to Bring: Please bring a candle (electronic or wax with a cup/shield) and feel free to bring flowers, banners, placards, or signs of support. Decent attire is encouraged.
Why We Gather
- To Mourn & Remember: Honoring the souls of those lost to the torrents and offering prayers for peace to their families.
- To Stand in Solidarity: Sending collective strength to the survivors, rescuers, and vulnerable communities facing the uphill battle of recovery.
- To Take Action: Uniting our community voice to raise awareness and mobilize vital humanitarian relief for the affected regions.
Every flickering flame is a promise that our brothers and sisters in Nepal are not forgotten. Please join hands with us as we wrap our collective warmth and strength around every grieving heart.
