Happy New Year 2083
Dear Members of the Nepali Community in Minnesota,

Warm greetings to you and your families on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2083. May the year ahead bring peace, good health, and renewed hope to our entire community.
The 2025–2027 term marks a critical chapter in ANMN’s history. In April 2025, the absence of Executive Committee nominations reflected deeper challenges within our organization—concerns related to financial transparency, perceived favoritism, and internal conflict. These challenges underscored the urgent need for stronger accountability, clarity in governance, and renewed unity across our community.
In the absence of an elected Executive Committee, the ANMN Advisory Board assumed responsibility to stabilize operations, rebuild trust, and restore a constructive and forward-looking environment. Over the past year, we have taken deliberate steps to strengthen the foundation of the organization and ensure long-term sustainability:
· The 2004 ANMN Bylaws have been amended (second revision) to strengthen governance, improve accountability, and eliminate structural gaps.
· A dedicated MNCC Steering Committee is being established to advance the Minnesota Nepali Community Center project with focused oversight and operational independence.
· The 2013 ANMN Handbook and onboarding processes have been updated to clearly define roles, responsibilities, and expectations for all Executive and Board members.
Historically, while governance frameworks existed, they were not consistently applied, contributing to ambiguity and operational instability. This past year, we have seen a meaningful shift toward a more stable, collaborative, and respectful environment—an encouraging sign for the future of ANMN.
We had planned to host a large Nepali New Year celebration on April 11, 2026, in Minneapolis featuring a renowned Nepali artist. However, due to recent ICE-related developments in the Minneapolis area impacting community safety and participation, the event was canceled at the last minute. We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our community.
As part of our commitment to transparency, ANMN’s annual financial report is currently being finalized and will be published on the ANMN website by the end of this month. I strongly encourage all members to review the report—your engagement remains essential to maintaining accountability and trust.
We are also pleased to share that, as in previous years, the Nepali New Year Proclamation has been approved by the Minnesota Governor’s Office and will be published on our website upon receipt.
As we enter the New Year, let us continue strengthening a community grounded in respect, unity, and shared purpose. Together, we can build a more resilient and vibrant future for Nepalis across Minnesota.
