Minnesota Nepalis Rally for Nepal’s Recovery – Community Update on Flood Relief Contributions
The Minnesota Nepali community extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported our GoFundMe campaign, “Minnesota Nepalis Rally for Nepal’s Recovery.” Thanks to your generosity, compassion, and trust, we have successfully wired $36,861.08—the full amount collected through September 25, 2026, after GoFundMe fees—to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund in Nepal. This contribution represents our collective commitment to stand with Nepal during one of its most devastating flood crises in recent memory.
The GoFundMe campaign remains active, and donations continue to come in. All remaining funds and future contributions will also be routed directly to Nepal, ensuring ongoing support for recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Why We Organized Our Own Campaign
Some community members asked why we launched our own fundraising campaign instead of simply urging people to donate directly to the Nepal Government’s account. The answer is rooted in unity, outreach, and impact.
Our goal was to bring our community together as one, creating a shared space where Nepalis in Minnesota—and beyond—could rally around a common cause. We also wanted to reach out to non-Nepali friends, co-workers, neighbors, and partner communities who might not otherwise be aware of the opportunity to help.
This approach worked. We witnessed overwhelming support not only from Nepali community members, but also from Tibetan, Indian, and other non-Nepali friends, co-workers, and charitable groups. The campaign became a bridge—connecting cultures, workplaces, and friendships—and inspiring people from all backgrounds to contribute.
By running a unified campaign, we were able to:
- Amplify awareness beyond our immediate community
- Make donating easier for people unfamiliar with Nepal’s banking system
- Showcase the strength and solidarity of the Minnesota Nepali diaspora
- Create a transparent, trackable, and shareable platform that encouraged broader participation
This collective effort resulted in significantly greater support than individual outreach alone could have achieved.
Our Commitment Moving Forward
We remain dedicated to full transparency and responsible stewardship of every dollar donated. As additional contributions come in, we will continue to update the community and ensure all funds reach Nepal’s official disaster relief channels.
